I needed a long run on Saturday and I knew this route had been published a few years ago so I ran it as an out and back heading E/W then circled the gazebo a Lions Park and returned W/E . Saved my activity…then finished up my run for the day with an out and back to Downtown Des Moines. Solid day.
This is a somewhat strange route which I have never ran…I loved it. Part is through a nice suburb neighborhood but the rest of the time you are surrounded by trees. I saw every song bird iowa has to offer and a black squirrel. First time seeing one in central Iowa. I would have taken a few more photos on my stroll as there are some nice creek views but it was raining pretty bad and my phone isn’t water proof.
This one could be ran FAST as an out and back or point to point…as an out and back parking at the Walmart parking lot is likely best there’s a lot of youth sports ran out of Lions Park and parking could get tricky those days.
