A beautiful blue sky morning to run up some volcanoes! The description was not kidding - this really is just running up a lava flow the entire time. I got minimally off route on the ascent twice, and found the route much easier to follow on the descent. I was pleasantly surprised with how massive the crater at the top is and what a great view it offers!
I was delayed in submitting this FKT, and was promptly reminded by the news that Mauna Loa is now erupting again! Thank goodness it didn't choose the morning I was up there to start...
