We both have had our eye on this route as we live close to Greylock and have done a lot of loops there but had never gotten around to actually doing this one way route. We left at a car at Pattinson Rd and headed out from the Community Center in Chesire at a steady pace. It was a cool and cloudy day but a bit more humid than expected as both of us found ourselves drenched in sweat pretty quickly. We've been packing on the miles for upcoming races and Brenda had done 20 miles the day before so we knew it was going to be a tough ascent on tired legs. We'd never done this first section and found it to be a lot more runnable than anticipated even though it was a constant upward trajectory. Once we got to the Jones Nose turn off at around 5 miles we hit a nice steady pace and finished the climb to the Summit, reaching the memorial in just under 2 hours. Rolling from Greylock to Williams was much more enjoyable heading North as we usually hit it in the opposite direction and before we knew it we were crossing Notch Road and preparing for the final climb before descending to the Pattinson Rd trailhead. It had rained pretty heavily the day before so we definitely kept the descent conservative as to avoid any catastrophe's and reached the opposite trailhead in just over 3 hours. We both carried our own gear and fuel, using tailwind, some energy bars, cliff blocks, and chocolate almonds to keep us going. We'd love to get back and give it a hard effort but figured might as well set a standard for others to take down.
