This wasn't my first attempt at this, so glad it came off this time. Also, this wasn't my first time on the DRT. I got started just before sunrise from the base of Blood Mountain. After the 2.5 miles up and over Blood, I got to the Duncan Ridge Trailhead a little over an hour after I started. I had a great first 50k, really good day. I got to the end of the DRT in 8:17 setting a new personal record for myself. I knew the return trip would be slow, but the weather made it longer. I made to the bridge around sunset and switched to night mode. Somewhere after Mulky Gap, my water and nutrition froze and I spent the last 4 hours with nothing. I think if I probably could have shaved some time if it was a tad warmer but thats how it goes. I got to the end of the DRT 20:51 after starting from my car which was 19:49 for the OB. After a slow 2.5 mile descent to my car, I was happy to be done.
I carried all my gear and only had to fill bottles a couple times through the run. I sticked to clif bars, Spring gels, Skratch gummies, amd Tailwind for my nutrition.
