Report

I started at 5:30 am, not from the Hotel Baxter, because I honestly didn't think I was going to beat any FKT time at this point, so I decided not to go there. I arrived at the reservoir at 7:27 and waited ~10 minutes for my friend, who was driving up with my wetsuit. After he arrived, I swam across the reservoir at 8:22 and took a while to change back into my running gear, which was shuttled across the reservoir. Importantly, the dry bag that I used to carry my phone while I was swimming was filled with water, but my phone seemed to be fine. My buddy and I then did Hyalite Peak together, summiting just before 11:00 am and getting back to the reservoir just before 1:00. At this point, I realized that my phone was not actually ok from the swim and the front and back camera lens had water in them (two days later while im writing this I believe I may need a new phone as the screen keeps getting worse), and I decided I did not want to make the problem any worse and gave my phone to my friend who then dropped it off at the other end of the resivior, I understand this is represented in the GPS track but I did swim across the resivior. And while hard to see in one of the photos above, the one with the red circle shows me swimming back across the reservoir. The swim back was brutal, as I was cramping in my legs quite badly and the wind was blowing south across the reservoir, making waves. I arrived back at my bike at about 2:30 pm and realized that I was well within the current self-supported time was rewarded with a wonderfully easy downhill bike ride all the way into town, where I stopped by the Hotel Baxter and then went back to my house.
