It was a beautiful sunrise to start at the visitors center headed clockwise. Great support from the crew of Jen, Joey, and Jameisa. Aid stations of county park, jct with the Hawthorne rd, and near south tufas. Route is about half sand, about 2 of which are serious sand. Crossing of Lee Vining Creek was knee deep ice cold. Thankfully Jameisa joined me at the tufas for the last 7 miles to get me through that crossing. I read about this route in an article last summer and totally wanted to do it. Never thought my training and conditions would line up, but then appeared the perfect weather window. The gpx I got of the route actually has two bush wacking sections, instead I stayed on the trail from the visitor center and at the northern point on Hawthorne rd when heading south went to the second road on the left that goes around the lake.
