New overall FKT for the normal rute (north) of Citlaltépetl or Pico de Orizaba.
The 2020 record of Lazaro Espinoza was 1:34 ascent and 2:19 round trip, Michael Versteeg's 2018 FKT was 2:02 to summit and 2:48 round trip.
I started at Piedra Grande Refuge at 10:33 am, conditions were a bit windy, yet sunny and without clouds. The pace was consistent, I arrived at the base of "Jamapa" Glacier at 50 min, where some friends had my ice axe and crampons. I made transition and started the final ascent, the last part was with hard ice so I slowed down a little.
The summit was alone, yet I mannaged to record a video with the new ascent FKT 1:23 minutes. I commenced descent, passed my friends at a section called "el laberinto", then ran to the hut or refuge setting a new round trip FKT, 2:02'32.
There were witnesses at the hut and everything went ok.
