I was in LA for a concert the night before and on the fence about doing this right up until I left the hotel to do it. I started at Will Rogers and ran south to Torrance. The Marina part was a little confusing in a few places and I did backtrack when I went the wrong way around a traffic circle to make sure I was staying exactly on the route but it also brought the only areas of very welcomed shade. There was a slow mile in the middle around Dockweiler where sand was blown over the path but I stuck to it the best I could.
This was an unsupported effort where I consumed only the 18oz of water I carried from the start in a hand-held bottle and 3 gels (I wasn't sure if refilling at a public fountain would bump it to self-supported so I didn't, but it was nice to have that option if I'd really needed it). I did search Strava and AllTrails for a faster women's time and couldn't find one.
Thanks for Pierre Cantin for the initial post. It was a great tour of the LA beaches - I'd love to go back on a cloudy day with fresher legs and do it faster!
