Started right around 6:10 at the south trailhead with Josh. Made good time from the start, with 8 stops to resupply at crossing that made sense. Stephen joined from the River Road under St. John’s ledges, ran about 6.5 yo to Old Sharon Road. We had to take off shoes and wads through the stream crossing between Cornwall Bridge and Old Sharon - lost a couple minutes, then had a long stop at the car. Josh made it through the first 27.5 or so before stopping for a break, and I ran the section from West Cornwall to Lime Rock alone (besides Stephen coming up from the end for the last mile). I took a fall in there somewhere around mile 30 and cut my knee, but not badly. Stephen and Kevin joined for the roads through Falls Village, then Kevin kept going for the next section until the base of Bear Mountain, where Josh joined back in. We were moving for the later half, and although I was getting tired I was watching the clock - first to try to get under Jeremy’s unsupported time, then started to realize I could manage getting under 10 hours and finally pushed to clear 9:30. Coming off the back of Bear Mountain was the worst part - there was snow above about 1000’ elevation for the whole run, but the ledges were covered and really slow to go down. At the end, I missed the sign - realized a minute or two later, then returned to it. I had dropped Josh down the back of Bear Mountain, and he started descending Sage’s back to the car, so I had a very anticlimactic ending alone. Took a pic with the border sign, then started walking out.
Nutrition throughout was mostly double strength Gatorade from mix, water, salt capsules (a lot), Clif bars, one peanut butter and honey sandwich, and a whole lot of gu. Kevin and Stephen were huge for having everything ready to go at each stop, really cutting down on stopped time. I gave up on solid food around like 30, and as of writing this (3ish hours after finishing) I have not been able to eat anything. Threw up next to the road on the way home for good measure.
