I ran the Heron way self supported. It went really well. A couple of nav errors here and there where the paths weren’t to obvious but easy to retrace your steps and find the right way. Carried my own water and fuel. Views were plentiful and the ground underfoot was perfect. Can be undulating at times and goes through lots of farmers fields so can be a lot of flies and midges in warmer seasons. All in all a fantastic route and highly recommend to local runners.
