Earlier this week I mountain biked this route and said to myself, "man, I'd rather be running." So naturally, I went back to run it! Currently in Bentonville, AR for a work trip I knew I needed to figure out a way to make time to play on the incredible trails in this area. This FKT is super cool and easily accessible-- I highly encourage a local lady crusher to come take the time down to something spicy! 🌶️ I'm returning from a broken foot so I ran this as a smart, comfortably-hard, and focused effort to see where my fitness is and test nutrition. If I'm ever back in NWA I would 100% run the Back 40 again, it's a great route to use as a benchmark. Temps were perfect and I saw maybe 7 total people out there, it was peaceful.
What I consumed:
3x 500ml flasks with 300cal of Tailwind in them each
2 SaltStick Chews
1 Ketone-IQ
This comes out to about 280 calories an hour. I'm not sure if I loved the sloshy feeling of that many liquid calories at that level of effort. We'll need to keep testing! 😉
