I've grown up in Lofthus, with the wild terrain right outside the backyard. From the age of primary school we have been hiking and exploring the forrest, trails and mountains leading up to and including Dronningstien/The Queen's Trail.
15th of June 2019 I hosted a race along this trail. About a dozen people joined, and a few guys managed a pretty good time, the fastest at 2 hours and 30 minutes. As race-director this day, I found my place at the back of the pack, making sure everyone made it safely to the finish.
I had no other option then to come back and beat his time a few weeks later. That I did with about ten minutes. It is, after all, my trail! (and the Queen's).
I walked in a hard pacing tempo for the most of the 900m climb, and when the trail got flatter I pushed hard and kept a good pace. After about 12km, entering a small ascent through tough terrain, my legs got a little shaky as I felt the previous climb. Descending to the finish I didn't take any risks, it is very technical, so I ran within my comfort zone.
I hope others will get their eyes up for running this magnificent route, and if they beat my time I'll take it back.
