I started in Mt George because it's closest to my house and went clockwise.
The track is hard to follow in places and there are points where the signage and the map don't line up.
I chose to follow the official sign posts when there was a difference. The trail is very sparsely signed as of 8/8/2021 (but I believe it is expected to be finished within a year) so you absolutely need to be able to navigate the trail from maps.
There were a few detours or sections of path that were flooded/flood damaged so I had to find other ways around. There are also sections through private property, including a locked gate, I assume these will be adjusted when the official markers are located. All this is to say, the trail is in flux at the moment so no two attempts will be the same.
I'll post the variations that I had to take and the wrong turns in the comments so that future attempts can keep that in mind.
I don't recommend starting with the Mt George section if you're like me and scared of spiders. There was a lot of shrubs so before sunrise it was just a thicket of spiders and spider webs. Ideally I would have started from the city, running along linear park in the dark and then getting all the climbing out of t he way as early as possible but then there was the risk of dodgy people after a Saturday night out.
I used a public drinking fountain at West Beach and a tap at the information point just before entering Black Hill Conservation Park
Also - my phone broke between 90km and 100km so I lost all my photos - hopefully I'll be able to retrieve them later. This also accounts for an increase in wrong turns from that point.
