Report

I ran this Solo and self supported on 18-20 September. Day 1 was Holyhead to Benllech. Water stops at Church Bay, Cemaes, Amlwch. Lots of beach crossings which were pretty but hard underfoot. Path closure at Ligwy and seasonal closure at Ynys y Fydlyn was poorly marked so got lost for a bit. Poor weather but the views were stunning all the way. Definitely the most rugged part of the coastline and the most remote.

Day 2 to rhosneigr was longer at 54 miles but easier. Again poor weather in the morning but the paths were easier, climbs earlier in the day and as you go under the Menai there were a lot more people around. Water stops in Beaumaris and then at a cafe near the zoo on the road to Newborough. The first and beach at newborough were beautiful except for the headwind! Amazing sunset but then finished the day in the dark stumbling around in the sand dunes!

Day 3 was tough on tired legs and it was more hilly and technical especially the last bit around Holyhead mountain. Trearddur was beautiful and a lovely place to stop for breakfast.

The run back into Holyhead was almost a shock after 3 days on the trail but was so pleased to finish!
