I started at 5:30am from Le Petit Port (Annecy). It was the very first light of day, it was even still dark in the first part of the climb to the Col du Pré Vernet.
I knew that the route was a mix of: a lot of easy mountain paths, a few more technical paths, road sections, gravel road sections. I tried to maintain a constant pace all along the way, whatever the profile and surface was... and I was finally not bad at it :-)
The ground was not too wet despite the rain the day before. The conditions were good with 15 to 25 degrees. Some rain halfway.
I stopped to fill my flasks before the bridge of La-Balme-de-Thuy and three times in little moutain rivers until Les Houches. I drank 5 Maurten Drink Mix 320. I ate 4 Maurten Gel 100 and 3 Naak bars (about one half of gel or bar each 40 minutes).
The route is kind of rolling ("roulant") for this distance in this region. It feels like it's going kind of fast to reach Chamonix from Annecy !
