Bright and early start from Prineville today. Crisp clear morning at Mack's Canyon. Perfect running weather. Started on the trail at about 7:53AM. The first 4.5ish miles is pretty rough. 6 or so canyon crossings, 4 fence jumps and one launch off a railraod tie to clear a wire gate. I would say it was pretty exciting. I power hiked the uphills and got turned around on one. A bit overgrown at the bottom along the creeks. The rest if the trail wasn't to bad. A nice littlle suprise climbe around mile 20. Two turkeys, one yote', one snake, tons of grouse and two mt. bikers. Around mile 17 I could notice the head wind coming up the river from the Columbia.
Fell off the nutrition plan around 15 miles. Started feeling a little sluggish about the two hour mark. Should of had another couple honey packets and another fruit bar. Water was plenty with the cooler temps.
Thank you to my good friend Omar for transporting the vehicle from point A to point B. I sure do love seeing the cow bells at the end.
