Streek GR Haspengouw
My goal, after the cancellation of every other race around, was to complete a 100k+ run before the end of 2020.
I settled for the GR Haspengouw, a 130km long distance pathway loop.
The course is a mix between small (concrete or dirt) roads through the fields, heavy mud-sections (it's december, ofcourse), endless orchards and boardwalks through wetlands. It is located in Haspengouw, a region in Belgium known for delivering the finest fruits, cultivated on the slopes of the local hills.
Due to Covid19 there was an active curfew in the country, that means not being outdoors between midnight and 5AM.
So I set off little before 6AM, to finish little past 9PM.
The entire run was solo, barely crossing people along the way.
There were meetups with my wife every 25k for supplies.
It being a really wet part of the year overhere means that the course will be much easier during spring and summer.
The trail-markings were decent at times, but quite a few times they seemed to be missing, so a GPS isn't luxury item for this route (especially when almost half of the course is ran in the dark).

Mijn doel was om eens een tocht van meer dan 100k te lopen in 2020. Nu de laatste maand over de helft is, heb ik er toch maar eens werk van gemaakt.
Aangezien ik niet zomaar iets wou uitstippelen heb ik ervoor gekozen om een lange afstands-wandelpad te lopen. Het werd dus de GR Haspengouw, 130km door de glooiende fruitstreek.
Een afwisseling van beton- en gravelbaantjes door de velden, zware modderstroken (er zijn betere seizoenen), eindeloze boomgaarden, knuppelpaden,... Helaas ook een groot stuk in het donker gelopen, hoewel ik vind dat dat zijn charme heeft, heb ik ongetwijfeld veel moois niet kunnen zien hierdoor
