This was quite an adventure! Going self-supported was a great reason to finally buy a new running vest. I went with the Salomon 15L and Osprey 3L bladder. I overpacked bigtime and it was heavy. BUT I'm so glad I did because my first planned stop in Watertown was a fail! Turns out the 24 hour Speedway is actually a closed-at-night Marathon LOL. So I kept running through the woods. I saw many pairs glowing animal eyes -- and only one pair seemed to belong to a dire wolf! The highlight was seeing a beautiful barred owl. I had more than enough food and water to make it 40 miles before finally getting to Silver Lake. Giant snickers bars, ritz crackers, and pink Red Bull were my jam. Reaching Hutchinson was exciting! After that, it was a grind and I was so excited when I saw the Cosmos water tower in the distance.
I learned a lot on this FKT about planning and packing! Big shout out to my father-in-law for dropping me off at the start in Plymouth and MVP award to the huber who drove all the way to Cosmos to collect me. The weather was nothing short of miraculous for late November. So glad to have this FKT!!!
