Although the trail is called "Fourth of July" trail, I would not recommend this as a summer route. It is almost completely exposed the entire climb up. There was a sign warning of rattlesnakes; fortunately, none were seen. There were a lot of butterflies near the wildflowers more towards the top. At the lookout site, there were hundreds of ladybugs crawling around on the rocks. I've never seen anything like it. 360 degree view from the lookout site. I only saw two other people on the trail.
