I started this fkt attempt around 7am. It was a perfect May morning in terms of running temperature - I started out a bit cold but very quickly warmed up. I used the hike from the new trailhead to the start of the fkt route to warm up and then just pushed pretty steadily up to the top from there. Got really excited when I reached the summit (views were awesome and I was happy to be done with the uphill and speed rock scrambling) and pushed the descent a bit harder. Since it's a relatively short route, I didn't bring any food or water. Due to the new permit system I was stopped briefly by a ranger, but other than that there were no holdups. I passed a few friendly hikers and deer but other than that the trail was quiet. Wahoowa!
