This was a great route to run and you will struggle to find a flatter course anywhere but that doesn't make it easy. There are lots of narrow sections that can become congested on busy days and the sections that are old cobblestones will destroy your ankles.
I have been wanting to do this FKT for a while now but sadly training didn't go to plan with injury and viruses getting in the way. I was targeting to do my first sub 4 hour 50km and 4:07 for the full FKT. On the day I start strong and was on pace to hit my target but just after the half way mark a reoccurring issue with my knee raised its ugly head which restricted my pace. I feel that if I had chosen to do this either supported or self-supported this wouldn't have occurred as carrying almost 3 litres or water, food and gopro definitely added to the difficulty.
I will definitely be back to do to do this again as I know I can get a better time.
