Started out just after 8 am from Franklin Lakes trail parking lot. Met up with the Hidden Lakes Trail .4 mi later and into the unknown. The trail was fairly well marked (look for white diamonds on the trees to mark the trail) until 6.8 miles in. I lost the trail for a few minutes and stumbled around in the woods, crossed a marsh (the wrong one, it turned out) and then finally found the trail. Crossed a marsh again (see Becca Downs post) and was back on track. Miles 7-10 are mostly flat, with the final four miles changing back to rolling loam trail w/ roots and rocks and undulating hills. The course ends at the Boat Ramp back at Franklin Lakes campground.
This is a very enjoyable route, but is frustrating at points due to lack of course marking.
Great way to spend a day in The Northwoods of Wisconsin!
