I needed some motivation so decided to squeeze in a mid-week FKT attempt. But it meant an early start as I wanted to avoid the commuters on my journey back to start. I went for the ‘downhill’ option starting in Epping. I was familiar with a lot of the area though had never followed this specific trail. That proved more challenging than expected since it is not way-marked, in particular the area near High Beech is a warren of paths through the forest. My pace dropped off when the path was less obvious so someone more familiar with the route could improve this time further. An energy bar and half litre of liquid kept me fuelled.
