This FKT is local to me and I was quick to claim the single loop last year. I was intrigued to go for a double loop and ended up waiting for ideal conditions - farmer fields that are crop-less and un-ploughed with it also being dry underfoot.
As the loop is a figure of 8, there are multiple ways to do it. I opted to do the bottom part in a clockwise direction on both loops, but did the top part anti-clockwise on the first loop and clockwise on the second. Having done some out-and-back FKT's, I like that I've added a new version to my repertoire with a double loop.
I started as dawn broke and enjoyed retracing my footprints in the dew on the second lap. As is often the case on this route, I met several herds of deer. A triple loop plus getting to and from my house would make a marathon so I may have to go for that next!
