I did it! 4:09:10 total time, new FKT.
Ran the route this morning, August 30th, 2020.
Started at 6:03 at the Onion Valley trailhead, cool temps where great for the initial climb to Kearsage Pass.
It was a nice morning even so there was a bit of smoke in the air from all the wildfires in CA and fires fairly nearby.
Going down on the other side of Kearsage I almost made a wrong turn but noticed and went back, only lost maybe 1minute total.
It got pretty warm, but heat was not an issue. The air quality was a bit bad in the middle part from the fires but overall not bad.
The part of the route that I had not seen before was actually more technical trail than I expected, so that slowed me a little bit. But I still ran about what I expected. I wasted a bit of time early for photos. I did that on purpose to not run to hard to early and blow up, I am known for that.
Ran controlled early on and the last 4 miles pretty hard ( I even made some Strava Segment Leaderboards!). It was awesome to have my wife and younger son Luke wait for me at the finish, and all the rangers working asked what they are waiting for and she explained and when I came in they all cheered for me, that was pretty cool. I did the run without any support, carried 2 water bottles and calories on me, went a bit for broke at the end with no water left, but finished just in time before it became a problem.
