My first FKT! (Fastest Known Time)
Douglas trail, out and back to Pine Island, 25.5 mi. Started before 5AM to beat the heat. Started out great, averaging my target pace of 6:10 but nature called at mile 7 and there’s no stopping the clock on an FKT. At that point, i toned it down and I’m glad I did because at the turn around I was counting on refilling my water bottle at the Pine Island shelter but the water fountains were shut off. So no water all the way back. Despite the high humidity, the run went great, and lessons were learned.
