We started the run at around 10:30 AM in the town of Husum. First we had to run about 4 km to the North Sea, where the start of the route is located. It was snowing slightly, but conditions were good, otherwise. Grey sky, around 0 degrees Celsius, but no wind. After about half of the trip the Danevirke Viking walls begin. The route itself is rather easy to do as it's mostly flat. Just 300 meters of gain over 65 kilometers total. Because of the cold we didn't need to carry that much water, but most of the shops along the way were closed due to the pandemic anyways. After about 50 kilometers, nightfall hit, but with a headlamp it was easy to follow the route towards the Baltic Sea at the town of Eckernförde. Great finish there in the pretty city center among a bunch of beautiful boats and old houses.
