In times like these, without races, each week we run in small groups consisting of 3-4 people. That's exactly what we did last sunday, enjoying nature and enjoying running. Without really wanting to run an FKT, we decided quickly to stay together. No matter what.
In some reports, we read that the route was rather boring. Our meaning is that the route might not be the most technically demanding. There are not that much single tracks, rocks and roots and also the altitude gain is not that impressive for this region (1550m D+ in 78k) BUT on one thing we all agreed. The never ending woods and streaming rivers were absolutely stunning throughout the whole course.
Because it was freezing when we left off at 7am, we didn't drink much more than 2 liters each. We only had to refill our bottles once; in a clear looking small river. Herefore we used our waterfilter. It would be a shame having it carried all day without using it once ?. We survived on energy bars and sandwiches.
Although some of us struggled with the pace at the end, we managed to run fast enough to get the FKT in the 'unsupported' category.
