I recently had the chance to run the entire Tunnel Hill State Trail, something I've wanted to do since running the Tunnel Hill 50/100 races. Starting at the southern end at the Barkhausen Cache River Wetlands Center, I headed north towards Harrisburg. The first three hours were wet, thanks to overnight and morning rain, but the trail held up well. The section from miles 16-30 was beautiful, with water rolling off the hillsides and high creeks flowing under the trestle bridges. I stashed water at Vienna City Park (mile 13) and luckily found a working spigot in Stonefort, as the others were shut off for the winter. My brother's post-run pickup in Harrisburg was much appreciated! It was a great adventure exploring the entire length of this trail.

Also to note, the trail continues for another 10 miles to Eldorado but is not considered the "state" trail at this point and is maintained locally by cities or counties( and maybe not maintained as well?). I have not seen this section of the trail, but it would be nice to establish a new route that considers this in the future.
