Longer day today. Woke up and was a bit hungry so had 2x waffles and some gummies along w/ coffee before heading out. Start with no warmup, right up polichaski w/ 2’ on / 1’ off fartlek. Thought I could take a crack at the full FKT to the summit today as I knew if I could be right around 60’ for Polichaski, I could potentially squeeze the second half a bit and sneak under my own 1h44 mark (1’44’24 to be exact).

Felt ok on the first chunk but not fantastic, probably no warmup and a bit rusty. Felt better as I went along, though. Hit halfway in just under 28’00 and didn’t lose too much time in the carwash. Hit 1.6KSch to go in 53’ or so and figured I could be right under an hour and was pleased to see 58’xx on the watch.

From there, did 3’ on, 1’ off up the horses climb and set a season’s best there (25’58) and knew I’d be very close to the overall FKT at that point, as that left me only about 19’ to get to the summit. Luckily I didn’t hit much traffic on the traverse and summit approach, so just snuck in sub 19 (18’58 for that chunk) to hit the top in 1’42’45 (strava segment, 1’43’xx on my watch). Very stoked for this and had the summit to myself (and Steve!).
