I made an attempt at this loop back in October and was well ahead of pace with two miles to go when I made the grave mistake of continuing straight when I should have made a right - therefore making my run ineligible for an FKT.
But today, I was back for revenge! I’m currently training for the Vermont City Marathon, and felt like this would be a good run to hone in on what is probably right around ideal marathon pace. There was a little bit of rain the night before, but it didn’t impact much, apart from a few unavoidable puddles right at the start/finish. The whole thing wasn’t too hard of an effort and there was really no question whether or not I would break the former record. I just enjoyed the route and tried to focus on feeling good during the run, especially during the trickier miles 4 and 5.
There really isn’t any one notable thing along the route - it’s just scenic trail the entire way, which is great. I’m definitely glad that this is an FKT, because otherwise I would have never thought to run here, and would’ve been missing out!
