FKT: Vanessa Shea - Wallkill Valley Rail Trail (NY) - 2020-10-17

I am lucky enough to live near the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail and have been exploring sections since we moved to the area this past winter. I decided that an end-to-end challenge would be a productive use of my pandemic time. My partner dropped me off at the southern end of the trail a few minutes after 7:00 AM as the sun was rising - promising sunshine to warm the 40-degree morning. The cows were mooing, the 'Gunks were shining, and the foliage was ablaze. Overall the run was mellow - aside from a run-in with a house cat between mile 6 and 7 (that I was convinced was a bobcat). I had 2 GUs and some NUUN along the way. Beautiful trail, perfect weather, tired quads.
