Downloaded the route from the GPX on the FKT website and added it to my Garmin Fenix 6 watch. Also downloaded the track to All Trails to ensure I stayed on the track.
The start and end points on the track from the FKT web site are not at the same point. For consistency and repeatability I started my watch at the Hard Times Trailhead sign located at the Hard Times parking area. When I got back to the sign my watch read exactly 13 miles so I proceeded up the side of the road to get 13.1 miles.
The route is mostly on standard Forest Service gravel roads. Not sure how the track on the FKT site was recorded but I ran the route as with any road race keeping on the inside track where possible.
I ran the route by myself and carried all my fuel and fluid. Surprisingly, I did not stop for any reason and just kept moving through the course. For me this was a pretty solid effort. I have double knee replacements so I do a combination of run/fast hiking during my outings. The weather was overcast, no winds, and no precipitation. Temperatures started in the high 30's and ended in the 40's. Weatherwise it was a perfect day.
