No car, so took the train up from Grand Central to Croton-Harmon. Ran from the train to the top of the Damn (3.89 miles @ 48:34 ) and then took the route. Followed it all the way to Bryant park / the NYPL on 42nd. Some spots were hard to find the actual trail and some towns have the trail marked better than others. Started with a friend who ran about 20+ miles with me. Met another friend at Tarrytown who gave us extra water and joined until crossing into Manhattan. From Manhattan onwards it was a solo adventure to wrap up on the road. No one wanted to run once we were back on city streets. Took the long weekend to try my hand on this route, and did no actual training for this. Tough on the legs after running trails for 30+ miles and then switching over to pavement and pedestrian dodging. Ate 3 granola bars, two movie theater boxes of swedish fish, and a box of watermelon sour patch kids. Took in probably 1.5 L of water. Not a bad day. Got to see some really cool houses and the juxtaposition between the wealthy and low income is really evident along this route. Would recommend the upper sections for a nice long run. Not so sure about the bottom half. Including the train to damn section its 45 miles. Not a bad day.
