Beautiful day on The Brothers! It makes an excellent FKT route with a little bit of everything: super runnable trail to Lena Lake, rougher root hopping and bushwhacking to Brothers Camp, and a steep ascent to the summit with scree, slippery dirt, and some pretty solid rock.
My strategy was essentially alternating between redlining the runnable and steep parts, and recovering in the places where terrain limits my output (Valley of Silent Men, Brothers descent). It worked pretty well, though definitely a bit scary pushing the first three miles so hard when I knew I had four more hours ahead of me.
Weather was perfect today! Cool and cloudy but with dry rock. Passed through a moist cloud layer at 5k', but it made for awesome undercast views at the summit. Because it was cool I opted to start with no water, and filtered at Lena Creek and Brothers Camp (taking a full liter up the mountain with me). They're very reliable sources from what I can tell.
I started and stopped timing at the "Lena Lake Trail No. 810" sign at the parking lot.
