I departed solo from Yanchip National Park visitor center at 6am 05/10/2024.

My trail fast pack was loaded out with 1,5l Tailwind Hydrate, 2 x 300ml Water Soft flask, Medical kit, Space blanker, Spot Tracker, Rain Jacket, 1 x Banana, small packet of Soft jelly sweets and ziplock with 4 dates and nuts mix and snake bandage. First 10km was beautiful at sunrise but I struggled to locate the trail just past 10km mark due to trail being overgrown. Once located the next 20 km's went well with a mixture of jeep track and single track. 30 to 40km section was hard going due to continues soft sand until I reached the final hut location. Most time was wasted trying to locate the trail again from here and I struggled to get my running pace up due to soft sand which eventually opened up to a huge open 4 x 4 sand track. Trail markers were not consistent which had me struggle to stay on the trail during the final 7km's as it was fully overgrown and certain parts it was just soft sand until the Trail ended at Neaves rd. My advice is for anyone to start at the National park and run out to Neaves rd. You will not locate the trail markers from Neaves rd and the sand is relentless for at least the final 10km's. Was nervous running on the parameter of the shooting range as I could here ongoing shooting. The first 30km's was probably the most enjoyable part as the trail is green and lush from all of the winter rains. Take the trail on when it is wet and cool and start as early as possible.
