It was a tough but incredible challenge. I ran solo across Panama, from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean. The heat and humidity were intense, and honestly, I didn’t feel like eating much, just stayed focused on drinking water and Powerade to keep going.
I started the journey at 4:10 AM from Colón, right at the edge of the Atlantic. The first couple of hours were pretty smooth since it was still dark and cooler. I carried 1 liter of water, 1 liter of Powerade, and some snacks. Along the way, I stopped at supermarkets and local shops to resupply with more water, Powerade, and snacks. There are plenty of places to buy stuff on the road, so going solo and self-supported worked out well.
I picked a route that included trails, it was shorter in distance but had more elevation gain since it passed through hilly terrain. That made it more challenging, but also more rewarding. Overall, an unforgettable experience, and I’m really glad I went for it.
