The Catamount Trail in Vermont is a well-established, 315 mile XC/BC Ski route that travels the entire length of Vermont. The Catamount Trail Organization maintains and governs the trail. It begins at the Massachusetts border on Sherman Reservoir and ends at the Canadian Border near Jay, VT.
The route is primarily meant as winter skiing challenge. Those that would like to run or hike we would recommend the N-S Vermont routes Long Trail (VT) and VTXL.
The Long Trail in fact travels the same sections though it rarely shares the exact trail.
