The Baltic Coastal Hiking Route is a long distance hiking route, part of E9. The E9 route starts at Cape St.Vincent in Portugal and ends in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. It runs along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, the English Channel, the coast of the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. The E9 route crosses 10 countries: Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The Baltic Coastal Hiking goes along the Baltic Sea coast and the route starts at the Lithuanian-Russian border in the village of Nida in Lithuania, leads through Latvia and finishes at the Port of Tallinn in Estonia.

Length: 1419 km , 70-72 days Official distance on the website, but the GPX file gives 1487 km and around 800 elevation gain.

The route is divided into ~ 20 km long one-day or two-day sections with accommodation and transport options.

Road surface: asphalt road, gravel road, dirt road, trail, sidewalks, wooden path, sandy, pebble and rocky beaches, seaside meadows. More detailed description see here.  

Highest points: Curonian Spit in Lithuania (up to 67 m altitude on the route), Rannamõisa cliff in Estonia (35 m a. s. l., the Pakri Lighthouse viewing platform together with the height of Pakri cliff: around 70 m a. s. l.).

In Lithuania: Curonian Spit National Park, Nemunas Delta and Rusne Island, Seaside regional park, coastal resorts of Nida and Palanga, Klaipeda Old Town, Sea Museum.
In Latvia: Pape Nature Park, the steep shores of Jūrkalne, Slitere National Park and Livonian Coast, Engure Nature Park, Kemeri National Park, port cities – Liepaja and Ventspils, coastal resort Jurmala, Riga Old Town.
In Estonia: Matsalu National Park, coastal resorts of Parnu and Haapsalu, Western Estonian islands – Saaremaa, Hiiumaa, Vormsi, Muhu, Osmussaar.
