The International Appalachian Trail (IAT) Ulster-Ireland is a 279 mile / 450km long distance walking trail. It starts in Bunglass near Slieve League on the Atlantic Coast, West Donegal in the Republic of Ireland and continues into Northern Ireland, passing through the Sperrins Mountains, the Causeway Coast and Glens of Antrim, before finishing in Larne in County Antrim, at the Irish Sea.

This September, I will begin a self-supported FKT attempt of the International Appalachian Trail Ulster - Ireland, starting in Bunglass and ending in Larne. I am hoping to complete the ~280 mile trek in less than 10 days, and want to thank Glenn Bates for submitting the route and for his incredible video, which was a large part of the inspiration for this attempt.

Here's to long days, type II fun, and the opportunity to spend time in God's creation!

I might be planning to give this FKT a go early April 2026.

I still need to study the terrain and to check if the area is as wild as l imagine it to be.

The idea would be to do it in around 8 days self supported, maybe a mix between wild-camping and B&Bs.

If anyone has any useful tips or information (or the access to the video mentioned above), l would be very thankful!
