Description

The Nine Sisters in San Luis Obispo county, California is a chain of nine volcanic peaks.  Only five of the peaks are accessible since the remaining four are privately owned and have no public access. The route requires climbing each of the five peaks in succession.  It starts with Black Hill in the western part of the chain and consists of an out-and-back route to the top of Black Hill and return. It is allowed to drive from trailhead to trailhead to access each of the remaining peaks, heading further east with each peak.  The finish is at the Islay Peak Open Space Trailhed after having climbed from the Islay Hil Traillhead to the top and returned by the same route.

I'm going to be traveling to this area this weekend to see a concert, so I'll take a stab at establishing a supported time Saturday morning. My wife is going to drive me so I can refuel/recharge between trailheads. We'll see how it goes!

I'm going for the Unsupported FKT this weekend and will be doing it truly unsupported..... meaning no car.  I'm going to start at Islay Hill and head towards the coast, summiting all five of the Nine Sisters that are open to the public and running from trailhead to trailhead.  The destination is the foot of Morro Rock, the final "sister" of the 9.  I'm a big geology buff so this is something that I have wanted to do for a while.  I did 4 out of the 5 a couple of years ago but was running a little late to meet the family so I skipped Cerro Cabrillo.
