Mare a Mare South
One of the most popular trail in Corsica, this way was originally used for the transhumance of sheep crowds
The trail crosses the rocky spine of the island between the Valinco (Propirano) and the Porto Vecchio Gulf , taking in the full cross-section of Corsican landscapes, from the deep blue inlets of the coast to the beautiful forests and high peaks of the Alta Rocca region.

Tomorrow I will start Vincent and Guillaume their route from Propriano for a self-supported or unsupported (depending on water availability) attempt on the Mare a Mare Sud.

Bonjour, 

La semaine prochaine, je me lancerai sur la tentative de relier les 3 mare à mare sans assistance. 

Pour ce défi, je vais m'inspirer de ce qu'a fait John Kelly sur "Big 3 UK" https://fastestknowntime.com/route/big-3-uk-rounds-united-kingdom 

Le FKT se déroulera avec les conditions suivantes: 

- 7 jours pour faire les 3 Mare à Mare 

- Nord Moriani à Cargèse : temps démarre au départ de Moriani et s'arrête à Cargèse

- Liaison Cargèse à Porticcio : réalisation libre, le temps ne compte pas

- Centre Porticcio à Ghisonaccia: temps démarre au départ de Porticcio et s'arrête à Ghisonaccia

- Liaison Ghisonaccia à Porto Vecchio: réalisation libre, le temps ne compte pas

- Sud Porto Vecchio à Popriano : temps démarre au départ de Porto Vecchio et s'arrête à Popriano 

 

Temps FKT final:  on associe le temps du Mare à Mare Nord + Centre + Sud 

+ délai de 7 jours entre le départ de Moriani et l'arrivé à Popriano

🏃‍♂️ FKT Attempt – Mare a Mare Sud – Corsica

I am planning to attempt the male Unsupported Fastest Known Time (FKT) on the Mare a Mare Sud, from Propriano to Porto-Vecchio, in Corsica.

📅 Planned date: between October 22 and October 28, 2026
📍 Start: Propriano
🏁 Finish: Porto-Vecchio
↔️ Direction: West → East
🎒 Style: Self-supported
👤 Solo attempt

The goal is to complete the Mare a Mare Sud as fast as possible, following this standard route and strictly respecting the current FKT rules for the Self-supported category.

The attempt will be documented with a complete GPS track and, if possible, live GPS tracking to provide a clear record of the route and elapsed time.

The exact starting date will be chosen according to weather conditions and trail conditions.

Looking forward to taking on this beautiful Corsican traverse. 🇫🇷🏔️
