The Wiener Höhenweg (High Trail) is a classical hut to hut hike in Austria’s Hohe Tauern National Park. Almost every mountain group in Austria has its own ‘’Höhenweg’’. This FKT course is running through the Schobergruppe and partly the Glocknergruppe. It is usually hiked in 5 or 6 days and runs between the Iselsberg near the alpine city of Lienz and ends at the famous Glocknerhaus at the foot of Austria’s highest mountain (Grossglockner) through a unique high mountain landscape, rugged peaks and deep blue mountain lakes.
Note: as always, every Höhenweg has its own variations summiting the highest peaks in the area. This FKT route is without any variations, and is therefore running from A (Iselsberg) to B (Glocknerhaus) in one go.
