The Icknield Way is unique among long distance tracks because it can claim to be "the oldest road in Britain". The ancient route consists of prehistoric pathways, old when the Romans came. Dotted with archaeological remains, it survives as splendid tracks and green lanes along the chalk "spine" of England.
The Icknield Way Path runs from the end of the Ridgeway Path at Ivinghoe Beacon, near Tring, to the start of the Peddar's Way at Knettishall Heath, near Thetford, for 110 miles.

I am going to attempt a supported FKT on 7/7/2021 starting from Ivinghoe Beacon.
Way to go Ed, Ivinghoe Beacon is such an iconic part of the landscape in that area - my hometown is Dunstable, but I now live in Sydney. Hope to get back there when Fortress Australia opens back up!
Got a stomach bug a few days before so have had to put the route on the back burner for the moment! Fingers crossed to have a go at this in the future!
Hello,
I will be making an attempt at this on Friday the 23rd of August at 6am. Starting at the Thetford end and finishing at Ivinghoe beacon. Will be using strava beacon or a tracker have not decided yet. Will post tracking link closer to date.
