Route: Whites Creek Trail (MO)

Location
Missouri, US
Distance
22.5 mi
Vertical Gain
2,500 ft
Description

The Whites Creek Trail is a 22.5 mile lollipop loop within the Irish Wilderness. The major trailhead into the Wilderness is Camp Five Pond located off Highway J, though the spur to this trailhead is not part of the FKT route. The only spur included in the FKT route is the long one on the north end to the Brawley Pond Trailhead at County Road 163. Athletes may choose any start/finish location as long as they complete the loop and the Brawley Pond lollipop stick (out and back).

Trail markers along the Whites Creek Trail are minimal. Visitors are exposed to a wide variety of natural terrain. Some sections are relatively flat and the trail traverses through many ecological zones including dried creek beds, grasslands, glades, bluff country, and breathtaking views overlooking the Eleven Point River.

This is the main trail into and through the Irish Wilderness. Rugged and primitive.  - Submitted by Jeff Fes
