I had been up both McNeil Point and Yocum Ridge multiple times and wanted to make a loop out of both of these amazing spots on Mt Hood. So on a bluebird September day decided to give it a try. No problems moving up from Top Spur TH up the climbers short cut trail past the McNeil point shelter. From there on up to Ho Rock the views are amazing. I had to backtrack down the trail a bit to find a safe route down to the Sandy Glacier but managed to find a pretty safe direct route. The glacier crossing was the most fun. Its a very dirty glacier down where I crossed, lots of unstable boulder hopping. Picking the best line from the Sandy glacier up to Yocum Ridge was fairly straight forward. Once I picked up the Yocum Ridge trail is was a nice run down to the Timberline trail. My only water stop was part way down Yocum Ridge. The rest of the way was super easy back on the Timberline trail. One of my favorite loops on Mt Hood.
