Report

After our goal race for the year was cancelled we set out to create our own adventure at home in Jasper. We started at 6 AM (too late! highly recommend starting earlier, if doing this not in the heat of the summer) from Jasper the Bear and ran up Pyramid Mountain, Roche Bonhomme, Signal Mountain, and Whistlers, and then back to town. The day was very hot and smoky, which made for some challenges, particularly on Roche Bonhomme which is exposed and has no water sources. Alex got quite dehydrated and needed some care on Signal, and Ellen struggled with blisters on Whistlers. We were moving continuously the whole attempt other than sitting to eat or change gear. Alex failed to stop his watch immediately when we finished, so we've provided a photo with metadata showing us back at Jasper the Bear at the end, to determine the total duration of the run. We got off-trail on the scramble route on Roche Bonhomme, so we do not recommend following our gps track there if anyone sets out to repeat. We had a tonne of support from our friend Maddie Trottier meeting us at trailheads with food and water. Brooklyn Rushton ran 70km and three of four summits with us, and Maddie Trottier, Kyle Payne, James Greene, Britt Weigel, and Caro Roy ran sections and provided moral support and encouragement.
