The day started off calm and cool and overcast.  I had my pack loaded wtih a bottle of CarboRocket and a bladder of water.  I also had some jelly beans stashed in a pocket as well.  I started at the ferry dock and headed inland on my route.  Since it was a Wednesday morning, it was pretty quiet on the island and there was very little traffic to contend with.  I worked my way North and East towards the Karfi ferry.  On the way, I stopped at the Stavkirke and explored it a bit before moving on.  Next, I climbed the tower at Mountain Park and took a moment to enjoy the view.  Then, I made my way to the Karfi ferry dock.  At the dock, there was a water fountain that I used to refill my bottle with water so I could dissolve more CarboRocket.  Next, I ran across the Northern part of the island to Schoolhouse beach; there I took in the view of the water and the breeze as it was starting to warm up.  Next, I started to head South back towards the dock.  On the way, I stopped at Nelsen's Hall to get a quick drink (and join the Bitter's Club- highly recommend!).  I had a shot of bitters, a beer chaser, and a Coke at Nelsen's Hall.  At this point, I had about three miles to go and ran back to the dock.  As mentioned before, I fueled with water, CarboRocket, and jelly beans that I carried with me.  I picked up more water at the public water fountain at the Karfi ferry dock and purchased a few beverages at Nelsen's Hall.  As a trail runner, I didn't think I was going to like running 18 miles on the road but this did not feel like a typical road run and was very fun to complete!
