Unsupported. I carried all my water (roughly 3.75 L), nutrition (lemonade powder, Gu's, Cola gummies and Nerds clusters), and sunscreen. I ran alone and did not stop anywhere.

My girlfriend woke up super early in the morning to drive me out to St-Eugène, which is a pretty little town in Eastern Ontario. Cool sunny spring morning, couldn't ask for nicer weather.

First 30ish km went according to plan (4:35-4:40 min/km pace). I tried to be cute by running a fast km before a bottle transfer and applying sunscreen, which would slow me down. That turned into a disaster and I got a nasty stomach ache that stayed with me for the next 60-65 km.

I couldn't eat/drink anything apart from pure water (soft flasks) for a good 30ish km after km 35. I nearly quit at km 70 because of the stomach cramps. I was also bonking and struggling to get fuel in. I eventually settled on taking tiny sips of lemonade every couple kms, eating candy one piece at a time, and taking walk breaks after ingesting anything. I simply dealt with the ensuing stomach cramps and reflux.

I kept on reminding myself that this had been my goal all winter, how much support I've received, and that I could still nab an FKT if I were strategic. So I spent the last 25-30 km counting down each km and doing constant mental math. Great distraction. I conserved energy by dropping my sub-8 hour goal and just doing enough to beat the previous best time (8:11).

Eventually I found myself at the western terminus. My girlfriend walked out to greet me on the long walk back to the car - the western terminus is 2 km away from the closest road/parking lot.

Bittersweet way to set this time. Lots of lessons learned. Grit, at least, got me to the finish line - but there has to be a cleaner way to do this.

Special thanks to the person manning the Facebook page for the Prescott and Russell Recreational Trail, who answered some questions I had about the trail before I embarked. This trail is well maintained, has some paved sections, and the trail/countryside was quiet and relaxing.
