Left from the start point just outside Woolsthorpe at 6:43am carrying all my water and fuel. After a very warm summer, I completely overestimated how much fluid I was going to require during the effort.

Very early sighting of Belvoir Castle at sunrise was appreciated along with the well groomed paths and bridleways.

I double backed on myself just before entering Goadby, but that was due to me not checking for any issues on the GPX file. Minimal time lost, but more just annoyance at myself.

Everything was moving along nicely heading through Melton, but the new bypass meant there had been a diversion of the footpath. I lost quite a lot of time walking around trying to find a route across the fields, but found my way eventually. The new path heads towards the roundabout but the signage isn't ideal in that area currently.

I never really re-gained momentum after that so the remaining 7km felt a real drag. Luckily, a lot of the last few km's were on the LC Round trails, so I was very familiar with them and could gauge effort nicely.

Overall a great trail and a nice distance for someone who wants to give a FKT a try. Would certainly recommend! Plus the cafe at Burrough Hill car park does a great sweet treat when you finish!
